Cathedral of Sées...

The current Cathedral of Sées successively took over from four churches, which over the centuries have been devastated and annihilated by the misfortunes of time and men. It was at the beginning of the 13th century that the last Cathedral was built. Despite its neglected foundations, it was consecrated in 1310 by Bishop Philippe Le Boulenger (46th Bishop of Sées). The next three centuries are marked by the Hundred Years War, the Wars of Religion and the French Revolution. The church is burned, pillaged and decaying more and more. The cathedral Notre Dame de Sées becomes a real masterpiece of the 13th century, mainly Gothic. In the shape of a Latin cross measuring 106 meters long and 42 meters wide, its imposing facade is framed by two magnificent arrows of 70 meters, restored in 1978.
Inside, the high windows allow a beautiful luminosity to the Norman nave and the French choir. The transept, which dates from the end of the 13th beginning of the 14th, reflects the beginning of the Gothic style Ile De France, which extends over the entire back of the choir. The windows of the 13th and 14th centuries present to the north, a magnificent rosette of a night blue called "Seal of Solomon". In the shape of a six-pointed star, it offers a summary of the Christian faith.
